PRECISE ADAS CALIBRATION
After a windshield replacement, your Harrs technician will determine if your vehicle’s ADAS needs calibrated. It is generally recommended that anytime a windshield is replaced, the system is calibrated.
After the camera is removed, and the new windshield is installed, the camera must be reattached to the bracket and then ADAS calibrated. This process is unique to each vehicle, your Harrs technician will determine which calibration is required.
Your vehicle may require a static or a dynamic ADAS calibration, and for some vehicles, both are required. If this is the case, the static ADAS calibration will be performed in-shop while the dynamic ADAS calibration will require a road test.
ADAS technologies in your car are only as good as the way they’re calibrated, which is why at Harrs, we are committed to our customers with a focus on quality, safety, and service. Proper auto glass ADAS calibration help guide your car’s computer to ensure that these systems work the way they were intended.

WHAT THEY ARE & WHAT THEY DO
ADAS sensors need to be precisely aimed and ADAS calibrated to function correctly. A sensor or camera even slightly out of alignment could result in its scanning area being off-axis by 50 feet or more, which might cause it to miss hazards.
Most ADAS systems are located in the windshield, side mirrors, or front or rear bumpers. Whenever you have your windshield replaced, change tires, adjust your vehicle’s height, get into a collision, or just notice the ADAS lights on or flashing, reach out to a Harrs Auto Glass representative.
When Harrs Auto Glass replaces a windshield that is equipped with ADAS, the vehicle’s safety systems need to be ADAS calibrated to the manufacturer specifications in order to ensure you and your occupants’ safety. Auto glass ADAS calibration is essential to ensure that the sensors are properly aligned. Our trusted partners at Autel are leaders in the scanning and ADAS calibration industry. You can be sure that your vehicle is in good hands!

WHEN IS ADAS CALIBRATION REQUIRED?
Whenever an ADAS sensor’s aiming is disrupted in any way, an ADAS calibration is required. Disruption can happen during a collision, even a minor fender bender, or as a result of common services like windshield replacement, auto glass ADAS calibration, suspension repair, or wheel alignment.
- After Minor Collision
- Collision Repair
- Windshield or Side View Mirror Replacement
- Suspension Repairs
- Wheel Alignment
- Sensor/Mounting Bracket Replacement
- Change In Ride Height or Tire Size
- Related DTC Is Present
- Front Airbag Deployment If Deflected Off Windshield
- ADAS-related TSBs/Manufacturer Position Statement Requirements*
- Mechanical Procedures Like Radiator and Condenser Repairs That Require Removal of Front-Mounted Sensors
*Refer to NHTSA, the manufacturer or ADAS Tech Support for more information
DYNAMIC ADAS CALIBRATION
A learning procedure in which a technician plugs a portable electronic device into the vehicle’s OBD II port, then drives the vehicle on well marked roads to calibrate the camera system. Dynamic ADAS calibrations have many parameters that must be met in order to achieve ADAS calibration. Visible road lines, speed greater than 37 MPH, good weather conditions, (no heavy rain, snow, or fog) drive during daytime, full tank of gas, accurate PSI on tires, and minimal lane changes. Dynamic ADAS calibrations can take anywhere from 5-45 minutes to calibrate. ADAS calibration time depends on the ability of the ADAS calibration tech to meet all the vehicle’s individual specifications and the car’s computer.
STATIC ADAS CALIBRATION
Static ADAS calibration is performed in our shop, generally it is required for newer domestic vehicles. Our technicians go through an extensive process to get your ADAS performing at its best. We pre-scan, replace, calibrate, and post-scan to ensure your vehicle meets or exceeds Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. The Autel MaxiSys ADAS Calibration Application software that we use takes out the “guess work” and confirms a correct and precise ADAS calibration.

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems and Windshield Replacements
As we all know, the road can be an extremely dangerous place, even for those of us who try our hardest to drive carefully and safely. Unfortunately, there are many people who practice reckless, distracted, or otherwise negligent driving habits. What’s more, those of us who consider ourselves to be conscientious drivers can become comfortable and complacent.
Vehicles equipped with ADAS employ a system of cameras, lasers, and radar that help the driver to avoid the dangers of the road. The assistive features provided by ADAS include:
Pedestrian Detection
Collision Mitigating Breaking
Blind Spot Monitoring
Lane Departure Warning Systems
Lane Keep Assist
Forward Collision Alert
Driver Status Monitoring
Adaptive Cruise Control
Adaptive Headlights
